Remember when you first got your PlayStation? For an entire generation of 90s gamers, making the leap from 2D to 3D and witnessing the glory of things like Final Fantasy VII, Metal Gear Solid or Gran Turismo was goddamn life-defining. Polygonal games then led the charge; 3D platformers overtook 2D as the go-to genre of choice, and when we finally got eyes on what the PS2€™s capabilities were - that was straight-up mind-blowing time. Tekken Tag Tournament looked unbelievable, as did next-gen Gran Turismo and the cool powdered snow of SSX, with Metal Gear Solid 2 set to blow a hole in the side of the industry all over again. The excitement for all things video games was genuinely palpable. The PS2 cemented Sony as a powerhouse gaming brand that weren€™t just one-hit wonders, establishing a momentum the PS3 continued by carving out its own place in the market as the most powerful console of them all. Now we€™re onto the PS4, and another runaway success thanks to Microsoft putting their foot right in it at launch, breaking off their shoe and spending the following few months struggling to avoid falling in entirely. Instead, the PS4 has given us a slew of incredible titles, and easily the best controller since the original DualShock. Taking all that into account; what would you say is hands-down the greatest PlayStation game so far, regardless of console? Let us know in the comments - there's an ton to choose from.
