Thankfully, creatives like Tim Schafer have enough in the bank to produce sequels to even their most flattest of releases. As such, we'll be getting a Psychonauts 2 at some point, but the original is already a standout platformer in every respect.

Its premise casts you as Raz, a trainee 'Psychonaut' who invades other peoples' minds and plays around in their subconscious. Military generals have war levels, the more creatively-minded will have circus tents and fireworks - you get the idea. Almost all of it takes place at Whispering Rock Summer Camp, where you'll have to use your abilities to solve a mysterious evil plot, hopping between every character's mind and unearthing what's within.

Schafer and his team at Double Fine are some of the best writers in the business, and it's a continued shame that this shiniest of gems hasn't been played by far more people.
