9. Warthogs Only In The Original Blood Gulch... With Grenades - Halo
What happened when we crashed two, indestructible jeeps into each other with very little gravity? Why... one of the best, unintentional, split-screen multiplayer modes ever. We hope the purists behind the Halo: Master Chief Collection's version of Halo: Combat Evolved's multiplayer will retain its ridiculous, invincible Warthogs. We also hope to one day simply refer to all things Halo-related as "Halo."
8. Horseback-Dragging A Hogtied Bandit Through The Underbrush - Red Dead Redemption
Rockstar have proven themselves the reigning lords of procedural character animations time and time again, and Red Dead Redemption was no exception. Slow-mo in the vein of a classier Max Payne allowed for a deeper appreciation of those classic, Western shootouts as the good, bad and ugly fell just like old Hollywood pros. You might call lassos a cowboy cliche, but they sure came in handy when John Marston wanted somebody to talk.
7. Sailing Stormy Swells On The Caribbean Sea - Assassin's Creed IV
A Pirate's life sure seemed sweet while gallivanting about Assassin's Creed IV, as swashbuckling, treasure hunting and high seas sailing were all ripe for our virtual plundering. An unexpected through-line of the entire experience, however, was the sense of scale and endless voyage one felt carving through the great Caribbean blue as a salty-dog ship captain. Epic camera sweeps and gorgeous, 3D wave simulations have solidified Black Flag as bona-fide boat porn.
