Rare's relationship with Nintendo led to many incredible games with Donkey Kong Country being the first major success for the partnership. Still the best game starring a tie-wearing monkey, Donkey Kong Country put Rare on the map with some amazing platforming gameplay.

Using pre-rendered 3D graphics was a risky move on Rare's part but it worked wonderfully on the ageing 16-bit hardware - the animations are fluid and the pseudo-3D style stands out vividly.

Offering co-op gameplay which is still a ton of fun nowadays, Donkey Kong Country is one of the best platformers available on the SNES - and that's really saying something.
