This article has been in the works for quite a while, though admittedly does not include several recent (yet still extremely fun) games. This list is composed of games from this generation and the past generation of consoles (PS2 and PS3, Xbox and 360), and with the new generation of consoles releasing this year, my goal is to honour all of the fun games that will now be replaced and end up in the bargain bin. I have been playing video games for as long as I can remember. They are a big part of my life and (no matter how many times I'm asked to), I'll never stop playing them. I began playing on the PS2 and Xbox, so keep that in mind while you are reading my countdown of the most entertaining games ever. Although I do like PC games, there will be none on this list. So, if you're waiting for me to talk about DOTA or WoW, then you will be disappointed (I didn't find those games fun anyways). Gamecube and PSOne are also absent in my countdown, mainly because I never really played with either system that much. Any and all Wii games are not on my list, mainly because these are supposed to be the most fungames ever, and I've never had any fun while messing around with those pesky motion controls. Of course, this list is based purely on my opinion and not everybody will agree with titles put on or left off; I am not trying to convince you otherwise. This list is of games that I enjoyed most, and, hopefully, you will share in the enjoyment of most of them. The definition of "fun" (according to Webster's Dictionary): fun - Adjective; Amusing, entertaining, or enjoyable. The Definition of "fun" (according to me): fun - Adjective; In describing anything with no educational value, that both entertains and distracts. Every game in this list meets both definitions' standards as well as my own personal set of "gaming standards". Now, before we start, there is one thing I'll have to clarify. The list is all about the forty most fun gaming experiences I've had throughout the past two console generations and, in keeping with that theme, I tried to keep my list as fun as possible. Sure, my jokes may not always be that hilarious, but give me some credit, I'm trying my best. It is now time for me to send you off on your journey. Happy reading!
Honourable Mention: The Walking Dead (PS3, 360)
I am a huge fan of the Walking Dead comics and TV show, so naturally, I enjoyed this game. Its artwork and choice-heavy gameplay were both well-designed and added to the story in only positive ways. Also, the 400 Days DLC was a great way to bridge the gap between these five episodes and the next five. I'm just glad this game had nothing to do with The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, which was close to being named the worst game ever made. The only reason it is an honourable mention and not on the actual list is because, although an all-around amazing game, it wasn't that fun (it was far too serious and depressing, albeit brilliantly so, for that). Since this is a list about fun, it just didn't fit quite right here. And now, click "Next" to get started with #40...
