On the 20th of February 2013, Sony made an historic address. Once again, Sony had the world on the edge of their seats, eager to see what they had to offer. Sony gave gamers what they had been waiting for. They announced the next generation in gaming. The Playstation 4. The element of surprise had been reduced slightly due to two leaked photographs of the alleged Dualshock4 controllers, days before the announcement. Sony also released some promotional videos of the 'Evolution' of its consoles, giving gamers a pretty good idea of what was to come. The leaked images and promotional videos still didn't take away from the awe of the spectacle. Sony were late releasing the PS3 in the previous generation of consoles and suffered for it. The Xbox 360 released almost 2 years earlier than the PS3 in the UK. The hefty price tag on the PS3 also put off many Sony fans. As a result it has taken around 6 years for Sony to catch up with Microsoft's Xbox 360 sales. However, Sony may have it right this time, trying to get ahead of the competition by announcing their console earlier, and giving a release date for Q4 of 2013. Whilst the announcement mainly showcased new titles for the console; Killzone: Shadowfall, Infamous: Second Son, Watchdogs and a few other tantalising titles. It wasn't the games that intrigued though. The encapsulating theme of the address was the new theme in gaming that Sony hopes to bring to the Masses.
