5 Things We Learned From PGI 2018

5. Brendan Greene Wants To Support E-Sports In The Right Way

Brendan Greene, otherwise known as ‘PLAYERUNKNOWN’ has been in development circles for a number of years, starting off working on mods for Arma 3, continuing on to DayZ and H1Z1, then onto working with Bluehole Inc. and developing PUBG. Thanks to the massive success of the title in its first year, the concept of doing an official global tournament was on the cards, and PGI 2018 was the result of this.

With many teams attempting to land the coveted 20 spots in the finals in Berlin, Greene wanted to support all involved, especially those who qualified for the finals. Just before the events of PGI began, an update to the in-game store added hoodies for each of the competing teams, with a chunk of the proceeds made from all hoodies purchased going straight to the respective team. Not only did PLAYERUNKNOWN want to open up the world stage to anyone worthy, he wanted to support their dream too.
