5 Ways To Make Resident Evil 7 The Scariest And Best Experience Possible
How to experience Capcom's riskiest sequel properly.
Resident Evil 7 is a bold new direction for the long running franchise. Gone is the third-person camera view, replaced by a claustrophobic first-person viewpoint. Whereas previous entries in the series have excelled in their over-the-top B-movie horror tropes, Resident Evil 7 feels more grounded, more real.
Due for release on PlayStation 4 (with PlayStation VR compatibility), Xbox One, and PC on January 24, Capcom’s new take on survival horror looks set to win over fans who had wanted more of the same.
But how can you get the very best, the most scary experience?
Here are five ways to ensure your time with Resident Evil 7 is the scariest and best experience possible.
5. Buy The 4D Resident Evil 7 Candle
This might sound like a joke, but it isn’t. Sure, it’s absolutely a neat PR stunt, but there is an official Resident Evil 7 candle. Priced around £10 and given the lovely title of “Blood, Sweat and Fears 4D Candle”, this gaming accessory is unlike anything else on the market. Burn the candle and you’ll be treated to the sweet aroma of old timber and blood (for over 20 hours apparently). Sounds wonderful.
How accurate the candle’s scent is remains to be seen, but it’s unlikely many people will be familiar with this one’s particular blend. What’s for sure is that players who game with the 4D candle lit might want to ensure it’s not near any combustible objects - especially if you’re waving your arms around in VR.
If you’re not in the mood for blood and timber (and really, who is?) there are plenty of other scented candle options on the market. Just be aware that the sweet smell of vanilla bean and coconut milk isn’t the mood Resident Evil 7’s dev team were going for.
