Hellraid is Skyrim's long lost, arcadey cousin. Conceived as a Dead Island mod, and now optimized for Chrome Engine 6, the same engine as Dying Light, Hellraid's narrowed focus is all-out combat for the sake of combat. Techland's goal is to create "the most immersive melee combat ever in a dark fantasy game." They believe that the first-person perspective is the best perspective a player can half because it draws you straight into the action, and this passion translates on screen, literally. In the demo we saw, the players perspective physically shakes with each sword blow, adding tangible weight and purpose to each strike. The Elder Scroll's lumberous hit detection looks even clumsier now next to Hellraid's spry attacks that visibly connect with their targets - and not just on the killing blow. The game also supports different play-styles, with magic, weapon enchanting, and a treasure trove of upgradable skills and fight moves to collect.
