You can keep your Roger Federers, Novak Djokovic's, and you can definitely keep your Andy Murrays. I'll stick with Mario, Wario, Donkey Kong et al. as my Tennis superstars of choice. The latest Mario Tennis game looks set to continue in the rich tradition of the series by being a simple tennis game at its core, while layering it with all manner of Mario-specific madness. There are 16 classic characters from the Mario canon to choose from, and you can play several different game modes on a range of courts, including hard, clay and grass, as well as surfaces you just wish they used in real life Tennis, such as sand, water, and ice (Alaska Grand Slam tournament, make it happen). The default game mode in Ultra Smash is the classic Mega Battle, which is essentially classic Tennis with Mario mushrooms popping up randomly to give whoever eats them a growth spurt. Other game modes include classic tennis and online modes, as well as an addictive lineup of mini-games. It's essentially more of the same from Nintendo and Mario Tennis, but with more polish. Given that it's one of the best multiplayer party games in existence, that's no bad thing.
