7 Point-And-Click Adventure Video Game Classics That Deserve A Revival

5. Discworld

Acclaimed author Terry Pratchett sadly passed away earlier this year, but his legacy will live on forever thanks to the lorryload of Discworld books he left behind. In mid-1995, Psygnosis brought the magic of those novels to PC with the release of a point-and-click adventure loosely based on the events of Guards! Guards! Monty Python€™s Eric Idle portrayed Rincewind the wizard, backed by a cast with more stars than a complete playthrough of Super Mario Galaxy, as the inept magician set out on a quest to prevent a dragon from reducing the city of Ankh-Morpork to ash. It was buggy and hard as fossilised dinosaur droppings, but there was magic in there too; and this was carried over to the game€™s two sequels: Discworld 2: Missing, Presumed and Discworld Noir. Unless you count the text-based adaptation of Colour of Magic, 1999€™s Noir was the last game ever to be based on a Discworld novel. Isn€™t it about time that changed? Pratchett€™s beloved series is ripe for adaptation, and with the adventure genre threatening a comeback, now is the time to bring the Wyrd and wonderful characters readers have fallen in love with back to our favourite medium.
