Good graphics will mean nothing if the wrestlers don't move realistically. That's another area where VB decided to switch things up from the established way of doing things.

In 2K's WWE series, a few wrestlers come in and motion capture all of the moves, taunts, entrances and movements. This allows 2K to properly map out how characters walk to the ring, bump, perform moves and play to the crowd during matches. Again, that should make everything feel more realistic.

For Virtual Basement's game, the developers went another road. They had Matt Sydal and Brian Cage mo-cap everything they could think of, but they'll only use that as a guide. Animators working on the game will be allowed to manually customise movements to suit. This means they won't be rigidly stuck to one animation cycle.

All going well, that means Cage (for example) will perform a DDT differently to someone like Pillman Jr. If they can correctly tweak how each individual worker performs their move set, then VB could stumble upon a breakthrough wrestling gamers have wanted for years.
