7 Video Games That Messed With Their Source Material

7. Die Hard Arcade

When you think of Die Hard, your mind probably wanders across images of tight vests, bloody feet, and a whole heap of "Happy trails, Hans".

The Die Hard Trilogy was a PS1 mainstay, combining 3rd person action, an on-rails shooter AND Crazy Taxi-esque bomb disposal into one game. It was actually pretty great, and at its core was on message with the film.

Then we got Die Hard Arcade, a game so off base from its source that it’s mind blowing.

For a start, John isn’t alone this time around, teaming up with Kris Thompsen to rescue the president's daughter, and doing so by beating the crap out of all manner of ridiculous bosses including a biker gang leader and a Mexican Luchador.

It’s actually a really fun game, but totally ridiculous when you look at how the licence is handled.

You could argue that it was like the developer modelled their original character on Bruce Willis; then the studio got a whiff and slapped a licence on it with little care as to how the franchise would tie in.

Wait, that is EXACTLY what happened?!
