When it comes to Crash Bandicoot games, a lot of people take the stance that the Naughty Dog saga was the be all, end all; a collection of titles which consistently improved on their aim of delivering over the top and challenging platforming.

Therefore, it was with an upturned nose and a huge amount of skepticism that many approached the other Crash sequels. Wrath of Cortex was garbage with load times longer than Bloodborne's original build, Mind Over Mutant was an abomination, and the less said about Crash Boom Bang the better.

However, there were a couple that spun with style.

Crash Nitro Kart was a formidable return to form, but the best has to be Crash Twinsanity, as this game was nuts.

Not only was the soundtrack an acapella masterpiece, but gameplay was completely off the wall. Sometimes you’d be controlling Crash and Cortex as they fight, sometimes you’d be platforming in ways reminiscent of the good old days, and other times, well, you’d be watching Cortex dress up as Coco and... you really don't need to think about that image, actually.

In short, this was a game that didn’t try to emulate the past but build on it for the future. It’s a shame that things went a little bit off the rails after, but Twinsanity stands proud as being a lot of bandicoot for your buck.
