8. Lambent Leviathan - Gears Of War 3

Gears of War 3 was an epic game to end an epic trilogy (at the time), and it had many epic boss battles from start to finish. At the start of Gears of War 3 you find yourself aboard the Sovereign, sailing the ocean looking for somewhere to call home. Unfortunately for us and the crew, the ship comes under attack from lambent monstrosities that explode their imulsion juices everywhere upon death.

Just when you think you're getting the upper hand towards the end of the chapter, you're gifted the silverback, an exo suit with meat mincing mulchers. Every gamer knows such gifts do not come unnecessarily. The exo suit was a sign we were about to fight something massive. One turn of the corner later and we're greeted with an all too familiar enemy from Gears 2, the Leviathan, except now it's got a lambent upgrade and it's eating the Sovereign for breakfast.

Armed with the silverback, you need to shoot its big ass glowing eyes to smithereens. But then you're like hey, what's that? Are those pesky polyps crawling out the leaking eye socket? Of course they are, so now you have to shoot polyps, lambent drones jumping out from the sea, as well as the huge kraken like monster eating away at the ship. Even in the powerful silverback, this boss fight requires good movement to evade the polyps, whilst allowing your guns to cool down so you can blast the drones sneaking up you on back to whence they came. Still fun though.
