Lets cut to the chase. Engineering is an inherently manly activity, filled with fire, danger and the ability to make giant metal behemoths with a toolkit and your bare hands. So really, Ive got a lot of respect for engineers after all, our lives would be a lot worse without them, and I for one dont want to live in a world where we dont have bridges. Yet Isaac Clarke gets to stand out among his tool-wielding brethren for out-doing an army of space marines in his battles against violent, bladed aliens with nought but pluck and a mighty boot. Yes, Isaac manages to showcase that most manly skill dealing with situations and does it with aplomb when called upon. In the first Dead Space, all he has is his engineering toolkit, and he still does a bang-up job in subduing an extra-terrestrial threat. It does help that most of his equipment is used to cut up metal and features freaking floating buzz-saws but still, youve got to take your hat off to the man. Not only does he partake in one of the manliest careers ever space engineering he comprehensively trumps a boatload of soldiers when push comes to shove.
