6. The Last Night

Also announced during Microsoft's E3 2017 press conference, The Last Night is a 2.5D platformer set in a dystopian post-cyberpunk world that's sure to evoke memories of Flashback, Another World and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee.

The game will whisk players away to a dark future where all menial work is carried out by robots. Protagonist Charlie lives within a lower class system and is searching for meaning and purpose in a world that's left him behind.

The Last Night was a surprise show-stealer at E3, its dazzling, neon-drenched trailer overshadowing much bigger games at the annual convention.

Expect firefights aplenty, stealth and retro charm from this cinematic side-scroller, which is set to land on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs later this year.

Release date: 2018
