8 Reasons NBA 2K16 Could Be The Best Basketball Game Ever

7. More Realistic Player Ratings

LeBron James had an astronomical 98 rating in NBA 2K15, placing him head and shoulders above the entire remainder of the roster. Although few would argue that James is indeed the most daunting opponent in the league, such absolute domination was simply unrealistic. This year will see a far stingier set of ratings, changes which will level the playing field slightly. The reason for such a reduction is twofold. Primarily it brings current players into line with the numerous legends available in-game, giving a much-needed sense of proper historical perspective. Also, in the words of developer Mike Stauffer, "I would cringe watching an excellent defensive possession [...] only for their opponent to hit a 12 foot fade away with Dwight Howard". These changes might strip away some of the superhuman-qualities of some of our favourite players - but this conservatism will surely benefit the game as a whole.
