8 Video Game Fan Theories So GOOD They Became Real
8. Mary's Body Is In James' Car - Silent Hill 2
Ever since Silent Hill 2 was originally released in 2001, there's been a prominent fan theory that the body of James' dead wife Mary is actually inside the very car he drove to Silent Hill in.
Considering it's ultimately implied that James killed a terminally ill Mary shortly before the events of the game and then drove to Silent Hill, it makes a macabre amount of sense that the thoroughly traumatised James would do this.
This would also vibe with the "In Water" ending, where James drives his car into Lake Toluca with Mary's body inside, even though Konami has made it clear that none of the game's endings are definitively canon.
However, in 2012 the game's lead designer Masahiro Ito claimed that Mary's corpse was indeed in the car - in the back seat, to be precise.
And this was finally confirmed with last year's Silent Hill 2 remake, where players manipulated the camera to clip inside James' car at the start of the game, where a lumpen object can be seen covered with a blanket which is very clearly supposed to be Mary's body.
There you have it, car truthers - you won.
