2. The Regenerator - Resident Evil 4

Resi 4 remains a turning point for the franchise overall; the one where creative designer Shinji Mikami introduced way more action elements than ever before, and the one that haters of how Resi 5 and 6 turned out, point to as where it all went wrong.

To that end, the threats within Resi 4 are more routed in coming at you head-on, like the bag-wearing chainsaw villagers or the gigantic monster that lives in a mist-caked lake. One enemy that does play on the old-school fear of 'being in the room with you' though, is the Regenerator.

At least, it does, until you have to engage in combat.

Having first discovered these guys inside a cryogenics lab, your mind runs wild with the idea of what can happen to a frozen human body after it's exposed to the Las Plagas infection. The result is a giant bullet sponge, one that admittedly, makes some pretty freaky, breathless noises, but that you can put down either by dumping ammo into its chest, or taking out a couple of parasites located on its chest.

Considering the super-cool buildup and "I wonder how this thing is going to fight!" assumption that comes alongside, the fact it's an instant death-bringing, walking tank, was a bit of a letdown.
