8 Video Game Villains Destroyed By Their Own Creations

Egotistical super-soldiers RARELY stay quiet.

By Jules Gill /

Not everyone is born with super strength, speed or agility in the video game universe, and while a slew of titles love to position us behind the wheel of raging infernos of power and magic, it's often the villains that are left wanting in the brawn department.

Therefore it's not that uncommon to find them hiding behind legions of goons, holed up in trap infested castles and with all manner of security measures in place to keep them safe, and yet it never seems to be enough.

The villain always has to push further, to make better weapons, to make better super soldiers and of course, when humans try to play God, it doesn't always end too well. One incorrect line of math, one slip of the hand, or just a general regard for health and safety protocols can see even the biggest bad taken down by their own creations.

Which must be pretty embarrassing for them, right?

Well let's take a look at these rather ironic moments and bask in the warm glow radiating off these villains faces together.

8. Bowser Falls Into His Own Lava - Super Mario Bros.

If I were Bowser I'd be having a long, hard chat with the architects of my many, many castles going forward after the events of Super Mario Bros. on the NES.

After all, while the lava flowing through his grandiose halls definitely would save a bit on heating over the winter months, if it hurts you as much as it does anyone trying to assail your castle, why would I want it right underneath an extremely collapsable bridge?

That's just asking for trouble right?!

Well, it's a lesson that Bowser sure didn't learn in this opening outing, as time and time again, across several worlds, old King Koopa here was sent plummeting to his fiery doom all thanks to Mario slipping underneath and grabbing the axe at the end of the bridge.

Hell, this raises an even bigger question in why the axe was there in the first place? Just throw that in the lava and Mario literally has nothing to destroy the bridge with!

So next time Bowser, when you're creating a castle, give this one a miss.
