9 Anticipated Video Games You Won't See Again Until E3 2019

Announced, showcased, demoed... not out until next year(?!).

With E3 2018, as with any E3, not everything is going to pan out the way we hoped. Not all the games will be good, some will come with controversial add-ons like loot boxes, and others might even get cancelled by the strange way the games industry works.

But perhaps the worst kind of letdown happens after E3, when fans realise they're not actually getting the games shown off until the following year. They'll maybe get a teaser or two, an interview with a developer, but really, we won't hear anything about it until the next E3.

With the fantastic age of gaming we're in, it takes a long time to make a great game, and this means development cycles are long. A game might be teased at an E3 years prior to release, with expectant fans getting sadder year by year as there is no word of a release date.

Of the games shown in E3 2018, there are a few that clearly won't be released any time soon, and others that were suspiciously lacking a release date - likely because they're a way off too.

9. Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077's first teaser was released five years ago. You'd think that'd be enough time for CD Projekt Red to finish a game, but they've probably been a little busy with The Witcher 3 in the mean time.

This futuristic cyberpunk game, set in the same universe as the Cyberpunk 2020 role-playing game, seems a huge departure in terms of genre from the developers' previous games, but they've proven themselves to be great at making games.

The game was very much a fan favourite at the conference, with pre-E3 buzz singling it and a few other games out as ones to watch. Yet at the Microsoft conference it was treated just as a regular game, with a trailer and not much else. Whilst the trailer had code hidden at the beginning that won perceptive viewers a few free copies of The Witcher 3, a notable absence in the trailer was any kind of release date.

Given that CD Projekt Red's games are huge, and it wasn't featured as much as you'd expect in E3, it seems that we're going to have to wait a while longer for its release. Given the source material, it'd make sense to be released in 2020 - either way, we're not seeing more of it until next year.
