8. Rainbow Six: Siege

Already under fire for not including any sort of single-player campaign, in the run up to Rainbow Six: Siege's release, the tactical multiplayer shooter was ridiculed for its scripted gameplay trailers that looked nothing like how the game itself actually played.

Starting on the back foot, things got even worse when fans finally got a hold of the title themselves, as Ubisoft's shoddy servers tanked the multiplayer experience. An online shooter that has constant crashes and laggy gameplay is essentially dead in the water, and Siege stumbled out of the gate.

Fortunately though, while other Ubisoft games usually tail off after a poor release, Siege has only gained more of a fanbase in the years since its launch. The developers have been dedicated to adding content and making the title as good as it can possibly be, constantly releasing free maps and operators to keep players engaged.

Consequently, a rough-around-the-edges shooter has slowly transformed into one of the best multiplayer games of the generation, and is now a must-play for any competitive FPS fan.
