9 Hugely-Anticipated Video Games Still To Come In 2018

9. Super Smash Bros. Switch

Intent on continuing the Switch's streak of success in its launch year well into 2018, Nintendo not only confirmed its plans to release Metroid Prime 4 and a proper Pokémon game for a home console, but yet another entry in its battle royale (not that kind) series first given life on the N64.

The series has come leaps and bounds since the 64-bit era, introducing more characters, modes, collectables and stages to round out one of the most content-rich, accessible fighting game series' ever, but Nintendo's not done yet. Oh no.

Details are - and will remain that way until next month's E3 - slim, but suffice it to say, Smash Bros. Switch will be a sizeable upgrade over the current Wii U/3DS iterations, likely to bring with it all the expected veteran characters as well as several new contenders à la Splatoon's Inklings as seen in the announcement trailer.

At this point, it's hard to envisage how the Big N can mechanically improve upon an already winning formula and even if it's the reality that Smash Bros. Switch ends up providing more of the same, just with more options and refinements, we'll be surprised to see any complaints.
