With 2017 now in the rear-view mirror, we know things like Red Dead Redemption 2, Far Cry 5 and God of War's reboot are on the horizon - but what of the projects yet to be announced? The big jaw-droppers many developers are hoping to keep under wraps until E3?

Those are the ones we'll focus on and pick apart as the year unfolds, and it's going to be very interesting to see what kind of year 2018 turns into.

As the games industry is now bigger than ever, it means every big-budget idea has to hit home. As such, we're seeing a huge reliance on legacy franchises being rebooted or having another sequel get tagged on. The likes of God of War are indicative of this, but even Red Dead Redemption and The Last of Us continuing after having demonstrably final finales shows the bigger studios of the world aren't willing to take as many risks as in years gone by. I mean, when was the last time Rockstar did something other than pump out content for GTA: Online?
