9 Upcoming Must-Play PS4 Exclusives

8. Uncharted 4: A Thief€™s End

Nathan Drake is a bona fide badass, the unapologetic b@$t@rd child of Indiana Jones and and a star as Sony€™s action adventure icon, one that defined the PS3. Microsoft made a deliberately not-stupid move at this year€™s Gamescom, announcing their timed-exclusive rights to Rise of the Tomb Raider, Lara Croft€™s new-gen sequel. It€™s ironic, considering Sony introduced and mothered the franchise from birth, but that just means Uncharted 4 matters more than ever before if you own a PS4. Naughty Dog have always gone the extra mile when it comes to detail and production value, and Uncharted€™s true exclusivity will no doubt allow for some ample harnessing of the PS4€™s technical potential. The debut trailer is absolutely gorgeous and was captured in-engine, so what you see is what you get. What we haven€™t seen is anything other than an incredibly detailed Nathan Drake groggily picking himself up off a muddy river shore and shambling into a scary tropical temple. The muted color palette and eerie bleakness of the trailer makes sense, considering Amy Hennig - longtime Head of Story for the series €“ was ushered out and replaced by The Last of Us writers Neil Druckmann and Bruce Staley. If you ask us, Uncharted fans needn€™t worry €“ The Last of Us was one of the best stories ever laid to the virtual page and we€™ve been assured publicly several times that Uncharted remains as campy and adventurous as ever. We€™ll wait for Nate to smile in the next trailer before we preconceive too many po-faced notions.
