Assassin's Creed Origins: 5 Locations We Need To See After Egypt
5. 1920s New York/Chicago
Prohibition period America saw the rise of organised crime, as the Mafia moved into bootlegging, and New York and Chicago started to morph into the hustling, bustling cities they are today. Climbing some of those huge skyscrapers would push even the most ardent daredevils and the architecture of the PS4 and Xbox One to the limits.
An obvious issue raised by the more modern period is the iconic haystack jump. First, how high are assassins prepared to jump? Second, what would they land in? The answer to the first is probably dependent on the individual assassin. The answer to the second is haystacks could be replaced with those massive dumpster bins.
Pushing that far into the future will allow Ubisoft to take the combat into a different direction, adding a bit of freshness to the tried and tested formula. Tommy guns and cars would be a welcome addition. And if they had to, Ubisoft could keep the rope launcher introduced in Syndicate, for faster, easier traversal across the huge New York and Chicago cityscape.
Ubisoft love incorporating historical figures into the Assassin's Creed games. Chicago was home to one of the most infamous gangsters in history: Al Capone. Interacting with him, whether that be a side mission or as the main antagonist, could see the makings of an iconic Assassin's Creed game.
