Another year, another Assassins Creed. Without wanting to be too presumptive, I think I speak for the collective when I say we were all getting pretty sick of this franchise, especially after the bug-laden mess that was the third installment. Couple that with the fact that just as AC III was released Ubisoft were already touting this installment, and there was a touch of the George Lucas in the milking of what was becoming a slowly more withered cash cow. However, the flipside to such a stupidly early announcement implied that the team had been hard at work on this installment even during part three. Thus now we have what actually feels like a proper entry into the series instead of yet another rehash of exactly the same animations, mission-types and present-day-plot-absurdity. Whilst said animations are still largely in place, as is the overall structure for the campaign missions, AC IV has proved a resounding success critically, finally being able to once again appeal to that soft-spot most of us have for the franchise after the first two games. All that being said, many are still wondering whether or not the series deserves your cash after all this time, and so after being a cynic when making the initial purchase, Ive put together ten reasons I think newcomers and fans alike will still get a hooded-kick out of Black Flag.
