One of the biggest issues with Avengers and something you'll feel even as the game is trying to showcase a diverse character roster, is that everybody feels nigh-on the same.

Yes, Black Widow has more parry-specific animations and Iron Man can fly, but all have light and heavy attacks, all can hold the left trigger to aim a projectile even if they don't possess a firearm, and all largely fit into the same combo possibilities. Across the board, every character so far has various canned animations applied to the same buttons and allocations.

Now, this could be because the starting roster is very much that - a way to introduce us to what's coming.

Thanks to a huge datamine from the PC version we know everybody from Black Panther to Scarlet Witch, Dr. Strange to Kate Bishop and She-Hulk are incoming, but they need to feel more experimental and unique in the field.

The sad reality comes from realising many DLC heroes could simply serve as ways to get around the lack of duplicates I mentioned earlier. Those who can't play as Hulk could pick She-Hulk, those not picking Hawkeye get Kate Bishop, and so on.

Avengers combat ran its course even after a few hours with the beta. This upcoming fleshed our roster HAS to bring big changes.
