Batman Arkham City Team Not Developing The Dark Knight Rises Video Game

Rocksteady won't be turning their hand to a Dark Knight Rises tie-in, according to Sefton Hill.

Sefton Hill, director of both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, recently spoke with Official Playstation Magazine and on being asked if Rocksteady would be working on a tie-in video game for The Dark Knight Rises, he confirmed what had long been suspect. That it won€™t be happening under his watch:
OPM: Have you ever been approached to do a tie-in game for The Dark Knight Rises? If not, would you like to do a game based on the grittier, more grounded nature of the Nolan films?Hill: I love the films. I loved Begins and I loved Dark Knight. And it€™s quite interesting because we saw Dark Knight in the middle of developing Asylum, so it was already a little too late to have any impact. Still, it was interesting to see where they were going, as opposed to where we were going. One of the interesting things for us about the licence that we have is that we can make a game that€™s designed to be a game, and that is a very different story to a film. If you€™re writing a story for a film for two hours, it€™s a very specific narrative. Whereas for a game we€™re writing a story for 15 hours and then we€™re also writing 12 side-stories in a way that you would just never do in a film. OPM: So we shouldn€™t expect a tie-in game from you next summer, then?Hill: No, I don€™t think so. I think that€™s one thing you can rule out.
If there is going to be a tie-in for The Dark Knight Rises, it is rather worrying that we haven't yet heard anything about it - and you'd have to suspect at this stage that it's either a remarkably well-kept secret, or someone is going to rush together a poor tie-in like the usual fare offered to that market. Hopefully, the radio silence implies that there isn't a tie-in on its way: why would Warners undermine the success of the Arkham series with a comparatively poorer alternative title? Hopefully, they wouldn't.
