With intense action, huge set pieces, and a return to Battlefield's staple 'levolution' gameplay, 2042 is already shaping up to be a big hit. After exploring both World Wars, the sudden shift to a near-futuristic and fictitious conflict has gamers excited about the possibilities of new gameplay, weapons and vehicular combat that the series is known for.

However, one major stand out from the announcement is the do-away of Battlefield's established squad role dynamic. Instead, Battlefield borrows a leaf out of Call of Duty's book with the introduction of Specialists.
