Before Assassin’s Creed 3: 7 Moments That Defined The Franchise

By Anthony Grogan /

The eagerly anticipated Assassin's Creed III hits the shelves on October 30th. It ends a trilogy (despite the fact that there are five games) which has revolutionised how we look at gaming; setting a standard for story, setting and character. Whether it be under the sun of Crusader Jerusalem, the tyranny of Borgia Rome, or the bidding of a master in Constantinople, Assassin's Creed has given everything a gamer could want. For many around the world, me included, it's just a perfect series. So what makes it so great? It could be the free running sequences that appear out of nowhere, or the the giant cliff hanger at the end of every game, but to generalise would be disrespectful. It is the individual moments that prove it among the biggest names in gaming. The moments that make you think €œwhy don't I have a white hood or a bench that makes me invisible to people?€, or simply the many instances that make you feel awesome. Honestly, I couldn't simply declare any moment as the most defining of the franchise. If anything, this is a credit to the developers of the series, who make every part of the games feel special, but here are the moments that define the franchise of Assassin's Creed.
