Say goodbye to the beautiful October release date for Bioshock Infinite. Ken Levine recently announced that in order to provide the talented and hard working team with more time to perfect the game, they will be delaying the title until February 26, 2013. Levine touches on the fact that Bioshock Infinite is going to be a huge title. The original Bioshock broke boundaries of what a first-person shooter can be. Just as the original shattered our realities of first person shooters they are continuing the cycle of evolution. Levine and his team are changing up the FPS formula with Infinite, and a delay is something they felt needed to happen. Our first visit to Rapture was also delayed for several months, and look how that game turned out. (Hint: Awesome) By now you are probably grabbing your replica EVE hypo and attempting to use hypnosis on the Bioshock team to alter their choices. Before you do that, check out what Ken had to say on the choices behind the delay.
"Why? Because the Big Daddies werent the Big Daddies youve since come to know and love. Because Andrew Ryans golf club didnt have exactly the right swing. Because Rapture needed one more coat of grimy Art Deco."
Waiting a few more months is definitely going to pay off. Taking extra time with the original Bioshock resulted in dozens of iconic characters, and a storyline that rightfully melted our brains at the time. We can only imagine what this delay will bring us with Bioshock Infinite. Would you kindly, wait until February 26?
