For a series which is largely concerned with being completely goofy and never taking anything too seriously, Borderlands has actually landed some surprisingly effective emotional punches, not least of which being the dramatic death of Bloodwing. This was the moment that changed the dynamic between the player and Handsome Jack, the villain. Prior to this point, he had certainly been a loathsome thorn in your side, but the way he brutally kills Mordecais lifelong companion before your very eyes and relishes the moment with such fervour kindled an intense hatred, and suddenly players found that the moment they got to smack Jack in the face could not come soon enough.
