Activision lives in constant dread that gamers are going pull back the curtains and realise that the multiplayer formula hasn€™t changed since Call of Duty 4. Sure, new features have been added and taken away down money road, but gamers are finally wised up to their bull.

There are those who will argue against the various points I€™ve made in this article, which is fine, obviously, but the point that not even they can dispute is the fact the now; even the fans have had enough. The evidence of that fact €“ as mentioned above €“ is how dreadfully Ghosts has sold.

Fans are - or at least should be - sick of plodding round the same old maps with basically the same old characters in an endless loop of monotony, only to have to shed another forty quid to do it all over again. Maybe now, companies will recognise that gamers aren€™t just cumbersome unsociable lambs who will fall in line behind the shepherd of the moment; they€™re really people with opinions and feelings.

Or probably not, but a man can dream, can't he?
