Capcom Announces Lost Planet 3

Unexpected: Capcom developing Lost Planet 3.

Today Capcom officially announced Lost Planet 3 is in development and is scheduled for an early 2013 release. The third game in the series is set on planet EDN III once again, but this time with a new protagonist. Jim who according to Capcom is a "contractor who has left Earth to obtain samples of Thermal Energy on EDN III for Neo-Venus Construction (NEVEC)". Capcom then went into a little more detail:
"acting as a home away from home and boasting an array of tools that can assist Jim on the field, the utility rig provides Jim's safety and is essential for not only his contract work but also his protection against the ever-changing climate. "
Here is the first official trailer for the game: http://youtu.be/NhH0w0u8x30 The combat has been split into two different sections, when you are in a rig the game will be in first person. When the player is on foot the action is in third person. In addition, unlike previous games which ran the MT Framework engine, Lost Planet 3 will be using Unreal Engine 3. The game is being developed by Spark Unlimited who is most famous for creating the not so well received Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. The game is scheduled to be released early next year on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. I do have to say I am surprised Capcom has been developing this game because Lost Planet 2 was not the big hit they thought it would be. I like many other people assumed the franchise was most likely dead. What do you think, are you excited for this game or did the second game turn you off the franchise?
