Valveconfirmed that the beta for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be delayed and this is not really too much of a surprise considering Valve has had some pretty famous dilly-dalling sins in the past. The delay was caused after feedback from professional Counter-Strike gamers, presumably telling Valve the game needs more time. Here is what Valve writer Chet Faliszek had to say on the matter;

"They gave us a lot of feedback that was obvious, things that we should get in the game before we release , otherwise we're going to be getting a lot of bug reports or a lot of feedback that would just be redundant,"
As to when the beta will be released, Faliszek didn't say, however he did state that the inicial beta will include 10,000 people and that number will get bigger as time goes on.
"The biggest thing of those first 10,000 is we have to look at percentage of crashes, You can argue with us on bullet-spray patterns and all kind of things, but crashes? There's really no argument for that. It shouldn't be happening."
In addition, it is not known at this time if this delay in the beta release will affect the actual release date of the game which was scheduled for early next year. As Faliszek stated:
"We have no mandate from anybody of when we have to ship this"
