Thanks to an eager post by the Taiwan Digital Game Ratings Board (via Eurogamer) for a game called Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, the next instalment in the series is all but confirmed, with the official box art leaking alongside confirmation that it will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One.

There was even a description alongside the rating, giving us a hint of what to expect:

"Crash is relaxing and exploring his island in his time, 1998, when he finds a mysterious mask hidden away in a cave, Lani-Loli. The mask is one of the Quantum Masks and apparently knows Aku-Aku, Crash’s mask friend! With the Quantum Masks returning and a Quantum Rift appearing near our heroes, they decide to bravely head through to different times and dimensions to stop whoever is responsible"

With the 4 in the title, it's clear that Activision is trying to position this as a true follow up to the original Naughty Dog trilogy, which the publisher remastered a few years ago. That, combined with the 1998 setting from the description, indicates the next title will pick up from where Crash 3: Warped left off, potentially ignoring all of the releases which followed it.
