3. Nina Cortex

Nina Cortex has quite a tragic backstory when she’s introduced in Crash Twinsanity, although obviously it’s played for laughs there. She’s Cortex’s niece, and begins her life as a kind hearted girl with a keen interest in fluffy animals.

Clearly, this isn’t what Cortex wants, so he fits her with steel gloves to stop her interest in animals, and sends her off to the Academy Of Evil. The next time we see her, it’s clear the school has had an effect on her, as she’s become just as evil and twisted as her uncle Neo.

She’s got a bit of a following within the fanbase for her goofy design, though like everyone else in Crash Of The Titans, the games have gotten her badly wrong before. There she looked like an emo Green Day fangirl, but most of the time she’s got an adorably dorky yet sinister look.

Here’s the kicker though; a banner with her face is hung up in Cortex Castle. It’s an original 1999 track, and she didn’t even exist back then, let alone feature in the decor. It could just be a little nod to the Cortex family, but many suspect it’s an Easter egg hinting at her arrival.
