But it won't be arriving until after the single-player is released.

As the marketing for Cyberpunk 2077 ramps up in anticipation of its release next spring, developers CD Projekt RED have announced they're not only working on the core game, but two other projects set in the same universe.

Speaking to Bankier, the studio CEOs discussed how they've expanded their plans for the title's production, introducing a 40-person team stationed in Warsaw to work on something Cyberpunk related. Though they didn't specify exactly which projects they were building, it's long assumed to be some kind of multiplayer component.

Recently, the developers specified that the version of the game launching next year will be 100% single-player, but multiplayer has been on the cards since at least 2016, when CD Project RED included it in their outline to secure funding from the Polish government. There, they included a section about how the team will be implementing "seamless multiplayer" with the new funds, which the full brief described as:

"A complex technology for making unique multiplayer gameplay mechanics, including the ability to search for opponents, manage game session, replicate objects, and support for different game modes along with a unique set of dedicated tools."

Consequently, this could mean that Cyberpunk 2077 will be receiving a multiplayer expansion after it launches ala Red Dead Online, or as a whole new separate experience. As for what the third project could be, that remains anyone's guess, but the studio has promised they'll be ready to show both off early next year.
