11. Don't Wade In - ALWAYS Be Patient

When describing Soulsian combat you have to use phrases like 'hack n' slash', but such a label befits a sense of thundering into battle that Dark Souls will recognise and punish you for.

Instead, stick and move. Hang back, watch your enemy's animations and dodge accordingly. When they open themselves up for a guaranteed hit, zip in for one or two hits.

It's very rare you can get a lengthy combo off (and all of them in the game are designed to be around three hits, max), so just wait your turn, and patiently dispatch your foes in time.
