12. Heartman Stops The Game Dead (Literally)

It's a good while before the player meets Heartman face to face, but when they do, things sure get bizarre very quickly.

At his neon-tinged abode, you learn that Heartman dies every 21 minutes, granting him three minutes at the Beach to search for his missing wife and daughter, before an auto-defibrillator brings him back to life.

What's especially amusing about this sequence is that, when Heartman breaks his exposition dump to visit the Beach for three minutes, the player is just left to their own devices to look around Heartman's room.

There's no way to skip the sequence and, while only three minutes, it's the sort of player trolling only Kojima and a few other video game auteurs could really get away with.
