After a few days of teasing, Sony have finally revealed a new, extensive trailer for Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding. As predicted, it's absolutely bats**t, and despite showing nearly10 minutes of footage, continues to keep the plot shrouded tightly in mystery. It does offer a pretty substantial look at the cast in action though, including Troy Baker as the face-licking Man in the Golden Mask. Also, Nicholas Winding Refn, the director of Drive and Only God Forgives, makes a cameo appearance. Because of course he does.

It also offers the biggest look at gameplay yet, highlighting both combat and exploration. In it we see Norman Reedus' Sam taking on a bunch of enemies in hand-to-hand combat, as well as running for his life while trying to keep hold of as much of his gear as possible. How players will actually traverse this sandbox was also revealed, with Sam being able to jump on motorbikes to get around the environment far quicker than simply walking. As a whole, and despite being on a different engine, the gameplay is very reminiscent of Metal Gear Solid V, right down to the animations.

The most tantalising part of the trailer, however, is that it finally revealed a release date. Death Stranding is shipping November 8th 2019, presumably in the place of The Last of Us 2, which is rumoured to have been pushed to early 2020.
