In Destiny's very first mission, A Guardian Rises, the player faces off against a boss called Rahn, Devil Captain, which to any film buff seems immediately like a reference to the cult classic comedy Captain Ron, starring Kurt Russell as a crazy, one-eyed sailor. Though it would be easy to simply pawn this off as a coincidence, it's much easier to read into it considering the absurd number of pop-culture references Bungie shoved into the Halo series, from Aliens, to Ghostbusters, to The Dukes of freaking Hazzard! Captain Ron may not be the best-known of movies, but for those who caught the reference, that only makes it all the more awesome.
