12. Infusion Has A Secret Factor At Play
Just to really bake your noodle right out the gate, many weapons' power levels aren't what they seem.

Where a given gun will have a damage readout of say, 270, if you hit triangle/Y and bring up its details, you might find a mod attached that's boosting damage by 5. This means that if this was the gun you choose to infuse, its 'infusable' level is actually 265, so whichever weapon you're trying to feed wouldn't get the boost up to 270.
Always make a point of checking for mods, as then you can discern which are the more powerful weapons to factor into the infusion process.
