Microtransactions are always met with varying degrees of trepidation and Destiny is no different. The emotes, ships, sparrows and other cosmetic bric-a-brac that Tess sells for real cash have never been a contentious issue, but rather, the decision to lock event content behind a paywall.

Festival of the Lost and The Dawning, despite being billed as content-rich limited-time events, relied almost entirely on players dropping cash at the Eververse store for any meaningful result, and the practice only got worse with time.

If microtransactions are to return (which they likely will) in Destiny 2, we need reassurance that the model won't advance to offering tangible, in-game benefits to those willing to spend over the odds for a shortcut.

Strip the store back to purely cosmetic items only that are available in-game all year round, and there shouldn't be any problems.
