Speaking of games that came out nowhere, the Metro series has always remained on the backburner, forever playing second fiddle to other post-apocalyptic exploration titles like Fallout.

No more (hopefully anyway), as Exodus fronted Microsoft's conference, showing off a stunning section that was apparently all in-engine. Our character was seen tackling a demonic underground mutant rat before fighting a bear on the surface and zip-lining to safety, all at a glorious 4K and 60 frames per second.

We'll have to wait and see whether the Metro franchise's recognisably dour atmosphere is also present, but as a sheer jaw-dropping tech demo, this single-handedly proved the new Xbox One X really is the world's most powerful console.
