Nintendo finally announced during their E3 Direct that a Mario Party game was coming to the Switch this October, but they left fans hanging for a while regarding any potential online functionality.

During their Treehouse livestream two days later, though, Nintendo revealed that Super Mario Party will have an online mode called Mariothon, allowing players to play five random mini-games together in order to compete for the highest score.

It's disappointing that the game doesn't allow a full-on board game experience online, but at least there's something for those who would otherwise struggle to get four friends together in the same room.
