10. Animal Crossing

To be fair, we knew this was coming but it was nice to finally see some actual gameplay and not just Tom Nook being creepy in his office.

Amidst an event full of loud, fast and violent games it was nice to see others enjoy some R and R in a game based around the simple charm and soothing calm of living on a desert island. Like taking a warm bath in your Switch (don't actually try that!)

If the gameplay on show is anything to go by, it looks like Animal Crossing will apply its style and mechanics to a secluded spot, and encourage you to build and adapt. Like a friendly version of The Forest or Subnautica.

Animal Crossing has never been about radical change and speed, its about stopping to smell the roses once in a while. Oh, and settling up on Tom Nook's astronomical debt.
