E3 2021: 20 Huge Video Game Announcements You Need To Know

19. Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Is Due In 2022

By far the biggest sequel announcement from Ubisoft was the confirmation of a follow-up to the acclaimed 2017 turn-based RPG Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle.

Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope will send the series into space as Mario and co. take on a new villain, Cursa, who has a typically grandiose, universe-annihilating plan.

The trailer confirmed that Rabbid Rosalina will be joining the crew alongside a new sidekick called Sparks, who appears to be a cross between Super Mario Galaxy's Luma and a Rabbid.

The trailer also confirmed that Sparks of Hope is opting for a more non-linear approach to combat, ditching the original game's grid and allowing for a more free-flowing mode of engagement.

As with the original, it will be a Nintendo Switch exclusive title and is expected to bow sometime next year.
